Trade delegation gives boost to South India-US biz ties
The trade delegation from the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry to the US made a positive impact in the bi-lateral trade relationship between South India and the US.
The delegation also visited the International Franchise Expo at the Javits Trade Centre, New York City.
The 45-member delegation with S. Rethinavelu as mentor, N. Jegatheesan as leader and K. Thirupathirajan as co-ordinator, had detailed discussions with the franchisors, in which 400 plus franchise opportunities were presented by franchisors from several countries, a release from the chamber said
They also held discussions about the suitable brands and products for franchise in Tamil Nadu —fast foods, personal brain training, childhood education, 7-Eleven stores, beverages, complete automated laundry, energy efficient products and mosquito shields.
They also explored the possibility for franchising curry powders, edible oil and jewellery in the US and other countries and also the export of agri products and various processed food products that have a good market in the US.
Some of the delegates explored the possibility of starting chain restaurants in the US that serve traditional Tamil Nadu dishes such as idly, dosa, pongal, vada and rice baths.
The delegation held discussions with Elizabeth Rose Daly, Director of Mayor’s Office For International Affairs and Business, at New York City, and her office has promised to extend all assistance for securing office buildings, factory shed and warehouses in the US.
